Marco Ovando is not afraid to get his hands dirty. His shoots are
rarely about glitter or glamour, instead depicting seedy hotel rooms or
other grimy sets. Ovando shot this Mikey Rannelli video in a gritty
boiler room. Rannelli poses against unfinished walls, the scene
overlaid by a greenish filter that we’ve seen before in his Dworld Underwear Party promotional photos. The photographer/videographer also directed the promotional video for the same underwear party, which featured Will Wikle facing temptation in a lonely motel.
While the Mikey Rannelli video is less narrative driven than
its predecessor it still looks and sounds like what we’ve come to
expect from Ovando. Its tentative use of lighting and haunting music
create a sensual atmosphere in which Mikey Rannelli thrives. Edited into
short, staccato shots, the video is simultaneously claustrophobic and
inviting.
The song used in the video is ”Weekend Players” by Jericho from the
album “Pursuit of Happiness.” Mikey Rannelli is managed by Mint
Management NYC. Rannelli is wearing several pairs of underwear including
