AussieBum was born in 2001 as a swimwear brand on Bondi Beach, the
renowned Australian beach, famous for influencing a whole new genre of sexy
swimwear in the 1960’s. When founder Sean Ashby, then a self-proclaimed beach
bum, realized his favorite style of bathing suit had been discontinued, he put
his money where his pants are and invested his life savings into creating a
company that would continue producing this iconic Australian swimwear. He named
the company aussieBum, paying homage to both his Australian heritage and beach
bum lifestyle.
